Collaboration between F1 in Schools Team "Blue Wolves" and "Millcraft 3D"
Millcraft 3D
Millcraft 3D, a local company based in Backnang, has been supporting us since 2022. Their contribution? Milling the chassis of the miniature car from PU rigid foam. The successful partnership with Millcraft 3D enables us to construct a lightweight yet robust vehicle that meets the high demands of the competition.
PU Rigid Foam: The Secret Ingredient
The chassis is the heart of any racing car. It influences aerodynamics, speed, and stability. Thanks to Millcraft 3D's expertise in milling PU rigid foam, we have a significant advantage. The rigid foam is lightweight yet durable, leading to optimal performance on the racetrack.
Technical Feasibility and Expertise
In addition to milling the chassis, Millcraft 3D advises our designer on technical feasibility. Their experience allows us to identify potential challenges and find innovative solutions. The close cooperation between Millcraft 3D and our team is one of the keys to our success.
Shared Goals
Our collaboration goes beyond technical support. We share a passion for innovation and a desire to foster young talent. Together, we will not only build a racing car but also shape the future of technology.
Progress So Far
Season 2023: The South German Championship 2023 was the first championship we participated in as Blue Wolves. At that time, we had already secured Millcraft 3D as a milling sponsor. Since no one from our team had participated in a competition before, we had little knowledge of the milling process in the early months of vehicle development. As a result, we underestimated many of the possibilities that Millcraft 3D’s five-axis mill offered. Fortunately, the expert from Millcraft 3D provided some tips, enabling us to make optimal use of the manufacturing process. Thanks to the precision milling, our vehicle secured the fastest time, and we won the title of South German Champion. With Millcraft 3D still by our side, we also won the German Championship, once again having the fastest vehicle in our class.
South German Championship 2024: With the experience we gained, vehicle development for the South German Championship progressed much faster. We also had the opportunity to have Millcraft 3D manufacture a prototype. However, the wall thicknesses were too thin, and the risk of the vehicle breaking during assembly was too high. With the help of suggestions from Millcraft 3D, we made changes and built the fastest vehicle in Germany in 2024, securing the Junior South German Championship.
